Both games due to be played on Friday 15th were cancelled due to the weather.  In the first round Creetown will look to host Dalbeattie again this Friday night, the winner meeting Kirkcudbright in the semi final a week later.  Castle Douglas and New Abbey are already in the semi final, and aim to play that match this Friday at Castle Douglas.

At Colinton on Sunday Castle Douglas narrowly lost to Inverkeithing in the sem final of the National Top Ten competition.  Graeme Maxwell struggled with the green from the start and suffered a heavy defeat in the singles, losing 21 - 1, but despite this the match wasn’t decided until the last end of the last game.  In the pairs William Brydson and Alan Davies kept up their 100% record in the competition this year by winning 26 - 14.  The triples was very close and Gary Davies, Allan Green and Scott Davies went into the last end one shot up.  They lost a single to tie the game 14 - 14 and earn Castle Douglas a point.  This left the Castle Douglas four of Stewart Gilmour, David Green, William Green and John Crawford needing to win their game to take the team through.  They were three shots down with two ends to play and scored a two in the second last end, and lay another two in the last end.  The Inverkeithing skip took the shot back with his first bowl leaving John needing to ditch the jack to lie the necessary two shots again.  He narrowly missed and so the game ended 17 - 15 to Inverkeithing, and they went through 5 - 3.

In the second semi final Kirkliston convincingly beat Chirnside 8 - 0.

In the final Kirkliston beat Inverkeithing to retain the trophy, the first team to do so.  Castle Douglas took third place by beating Chirnside in the 3rd/4th play off.

The green at Creetown flooded and so their game against Dalbeattie was postponed.  The game will be played this Friday.  Also playing this Friday are Castle Douglas and New Abbey in the semi final at Castle Douglas.  The second semi final will be played next Friday and the final will be a week later on 29th June.

In the Scottish Inter County Top Ten competition Castle Douglas travelled to Musselburgh on Sunday.  After an exciting match which ended 4 points each Castle Douglas made it to the semi final by 9 shots.

In the singles Graeme Maxwell had a close contest but narrowly lost to Willie Rankin 21-17.  The Castle Douglas pair of William Brydson and Alan Davies had a good win by 25-11, including counts of 5, 6 and 7.  The triple of Gary Davies, Allan Green and Scott Davies were tied at 11 each playing the last.  Allan drew shot with his third bow and the Musselburgh skip failed to alter the position giving Castle Douglas the 2 points.  The fours game was always close and Stewart Gilmour, David Green, Will Green and John Crawford only had to avoid conceding an eight on the last end to see their team through.  They scored a single, losing the game 17-15, but securing the team victory.

The semi final and final will be held on 10th June at Colinton, Edinburgh.  Castle Douglas meet Inverkeithing (West Fife) and in the other semi Kirkliston (West Lothian) meet Chirnside (Borders).
